It makes me so sad...

To realize that I live in a world where people are treated like this (and, of course, much worse)...

This photo was taken way back on January 25th at the border crossing between Gaza and Egypt.

The crossing has since been re-opened in a more controlled way but not without a lot of violence. Plus, Israel is now thinking about building a border wall to separate itself from Egypt.

I really wanted to write something pithily observant here but anything would be too trite. It makes me glad I live in Canada.

I just want to remember how grateful I need to be.

I think that a age of walls is just beginning, Walls to keep the Mexicans out, then there will be one to keep the Canadians out. Israel will eventually be totally enclosed, on and on!

As peak oil and economic collapse moves forward more and more people will be come homeless, migrants, displaced, refugees, (Pick your own label) all countries will show much more zeal and much less compassion on their borders.

You'd better accelerate that master plan of yours, I don't think we have time to wait

I believe that sometimes you have to hit bottom before you really work to make things better. I think that our culture is currently searching for our bottom - and I have no doubt that you are correct in suggesting that the bottom is way lower than we would want it to be.

I also believe that just like 60-odd years ago - humanity will eventually pull their collective head out of their ass. I just wonder how many millions (billions?) will die before that happens.

Master plan? What master plan? You must have me confused with someone else. I'm just a simple student...

I meant the plan where you break out your invisable jet and magic lasso and save the world, all while deflecting bullets with your braclets.
